Have you heard about Areni? Areni is a small residence with rocky lands and powerful rocks. Everyone in Areni knows how to fight, at the same time stay warm, sweet and hospitable. The characteristics of Areni are completed by the grapes and wine here. From fighting grapes becomes a powerful wine that has a hidden subtlety and sweetness.

Areni arable lands are 1000-1200 meters above sea level. It is located in Arpa valley. Formerly Areni was called Arpa, but now it is named Areni in honor of Areni grapes, which reveals himself wonderful on the spot.

Arpa starts from an altitude of about 3200 m. Areni is the last Armenian village in the Arpa basin. Arpa is an inseparable part of Areni. Or rather, they are inseparable parts of nature.

In Areni, almost every family has their own vineyard, the wine from their vineyards, the small or large karas (a clay pot) in which the wine will mature, and of course, dear and warm people, with whom they will enjoy the wine, making life more charming.


Who we are

AreWine is a family production. It is imbued with family warmth and immediacy. The AreWine family lives and creates in harmony with nature. Nature has given us a wonderful place, a receptive variety of endemic grapes, which is able to turn into a divine drink, wine, without external intervention. All we have to do is warm our gardens with family love, take care of the natural, safe environment for wine fermentation, maturation, rely on traditions, allow nature to express its full potential in our wines.


Vineyards

Wine is made from grapes, and caring for the vineyards is the most enjoyable part of the wine-making process.

Working in a vineyard is, first of all, an interaction between man and nature. Our gardens are located on mountain slopes. There are orchards around them, the aroma of which is absorbed everywhere and transferred to the wine.

Work on the vineyard begins in early spring. We start pruning, cleaning and plowing the soil. Diseases in vineyards are prevented mainly by natural remedies such as nettle, mint, horsetail or other herbal remedies. And natural sulfur and copper compounds finally strengthen our grape seedlings. The vineyards are irrigated three times a year to withstand the extreme heat of Areni. However, for the best quality, the last irrigation is done at least 30 days before the harvest.


Winemaking

AreWine wines are made only from grapes grown in Areni. AreWines are created and matured in a completely natural way. No chemical or biological yeasts are used, the fermentation takes place with natural yeasts already present in the grapes. After the main fermentation of the wine, no preservatives are added, not even sulfur.

AreWines are also not filtered, which preserves all the charm of the wine's nature - color scheme, variety of aromas, taste harmony.

Our wines are stored in karases (clay pots), which provide perfect conditions for the internal circulation of the wine, allow moderate breathing, of course, the wine transmits the strength of the soil.

~ Jiguli 06 ~
  • Wine produced from the Areni grape variety. With an anaerobic fermentation, the wine is light and can be paired with European and Armenian dishes.
~ Red wines ~
  • Wine produced from the Areni grape variety. After being destemmed, the grapes ferment in vats with daily punching down. The type of aeging differs depending on the choice of red wine made.
~ Orange wine ~
  • Wine produced from the Maskhale and Khadji grape variety. To obtain a not too marked orange maceration, the grapes are pressed very lightly, which gives a pleasant aromati c taste. The aeging is carried out in stainless steel vats.
